How to move or re-locate my Sound Libraries (Selecting a new Sample Folder)

Sometimes being a music producer or composer with tons of sample-based virtual instruments can get messy. You start organizing and cleaning up your files and then boom! some of your instruments stop working. Why? Because no virtual instrument out there can magically know where you moved the sample files it needs to run.

That’s why you have to point the instrument back to the right folder so it works again.

Tribe Player 2 is no exception, you’ll need to re-locate the sample files whenever you move them. Here’s how:

1. Log in to Tribe Manager

Log in to the Tribe Manager using your Tribe Account Credentials.

2. Go to “Settings and options tab”

3. Move the Samples

Manually copy or move all Sample Library folders, including the “wavetables.hwm” file, to the new location.

Click “Open Current Folder” to quickly access the library folder.

Make sure you don’t select a folder that contains another subfolder with the samples inside. The folder structure should stay exactly as shown in the image.

3. Change the Sample Folder

Click on “Change Sample folder” and select the new location where you moved all the files.

Troubleshooting

If you have errors like this “The Sample relocation folder does not exist. Press OK to choose a new location or Cancel to ignore this”.

Means that the folder that you selected doesn’t contain the Sample Library folders or they’re in a subfolder.

Some Tips

  • Please maintain a correct order, naming conventions and hierarchy of all your Sample files from the first time you install your sample libraries, I recommend you to create a Folder called something like “Sound Libraries” and then a different folder per Brand like “Tribe Instruments” and other called “Other brand” and inside this folder you’ll have everything related with Tribe Instruments sample libraries.
  • Please DON’T rename the folders inside the Tribe Instruments sample folder, every instrument have its unique name and should stay that way.
  • You can’t select a different sample folder per instrument you’ll need to select a Sample Folder for ALL your current and future Tribe Instruments libraries. This will avoid issues and keep an organised approach to your libraries.
  • If you are struggling with the Sample Library relocation I recommend you that you select a new Folder called “Tribe Instruments” and re-download ALL of your libraries to ensure that everything syncs up and fix any issue.
